Change Web Page Security Validation Timeout

Web Page Security Validation is used by SharePoint to help ensure that when a user fills out and submits a form, the data entered is not tampered with or altered before reaching the server.

By default, a SharePoint form will time out after 30 minutes. However, this can be modified or even disabled from SharePoint Central Administration.

  1. Ope Central Administration
  2. Click on Application Management
  3. Click on Web Application general settings.
  4. Be sure to change the Web Application drop down to point at the web application you want to apply these changes to
  5. On the Web Application general settings page, scroll down to the Web Page Security Validation section to adjust the timeout.

Important: while it is possible to disable Web Page Security Validation, it is strongly advised that you leave it turned on.
